I encountered a problem when choosing a time zone. The installer and part of the system would hang if I selected my city using the search field, but everything worked when I chose my city via the interactive map. Will this issue be fixed in the future? What is the cause? Should I contact the Fedora team directly via email? Thank you for your response.
This is a known issue but unfortunately doesn’t seem to have an easy fix.
There’s a bug ticket here:
which links to the underlying issue - i.e. an issue in the nouveau open-source driver for Nvidia cards - here:
Hi! I am trying to install Fedora Workstation 43 on a machine with a GTX 1070 graphics card and can confirm this issue very much still exists. Indeed, mine doesn’t just freeze if I hit the search box - it freezes if I don’t get to the time zone view fast enough. I’ve used Linux in various flavours for 25 odd years and I have never seen a Linux installer fail this badly in all that time. I had been recommending to my business partner that we switch our servers over to Fedora but I will backtrack on that now having seen the callous disregard for open source users Red Hat seems to have with regard to its Workstation suite. To describe this as disappointing would be an understatement.
