Key Discussion Points

  • Agenda Process: The agenda for the weekly meeting will now be posted on the Fedora Discussion forum right after the current meeting ends to encourage topic submissions throughout the week.
  • “This Week In Fedora” Bot: The team is discussing whether to keep a bot that monitors the channel for “This Week In Fedora” updates. A ticket has been created for feedback.
  • Wiki Cleanup:
    • Christian Strauf has a list of ~680 wiki pages, with about 100 edited in the last 7 years.
    • The initial idea to blindly delete pages older than 7 years was deemed risky, as some pages might be cross-categorized and still relevant to other teams.
    • Manual vetting seems unavoidable. The discussion on how to proceed, including the possibility of scripted batch deletions for very old pages, will continue in the Forgejo ticket and the chat channel.
  • Beginner’s Guide for F45:
    • Christian Strauf will begin updating the Beginner’s Guide for Fedora 45 at the end of the week and is looking for volunteers.
    • A discussion was proposed about switching the recommended backup tool from kbackup to Vorta in the guide.
  • Release Notes Process:
    • The team plans to add a few simple, targeted questions to the Fedora Change Proposal template.
    • The goal is to make it easier for release notes writers to get the necessary information from Change owners, as the current documentation sections are often left empty.
    • This change will likely require FESCo approval.
  • Docs Homepage Updates:
    • There has been difficulty contacting the Join SIG for their input on the homepage content.
    • The team is considering alternative content if the Join SIG remains unresponsive and agrees that clear guidelines are needed for what can be featured on the homepage.

Action Items

  • Christian Strauf: Upload the list of wiki pages to the cleanup Forgejo issue.
  • Petr Bokoc (pbokoc): Open an issue to propose new questions for the Release Notes section of the Change Proposal template and circulate it for discussion, likely involving FESCo.
