Hello everyone, this is the agenda for the Docs team meeting on Tuesday, August 11 2026 at 13:00 UTC. The meeting takes place on Matrix, in #meeting. A calendar event is available in Fedocal.

  • All: Help with the cleanup of old Fedora Docs wiki pages. Instructions are in the comments of issue #43.
  • All: Review and provide feedback on the proposed Documentation Contributor Ladder in issue #58.
  • Anyone with Antora expertise: If you know a way to register a navigation file (nav.adoc) from a different Antora component, please contact @pbokoc.

Today’s agenda:

  • @pbokoc is back from PTO and trying to remember what his job was
  • @hricky did a refactor of the docs-fp-o builder repo, you can see the progress on stage here: Making sure you're not a bot!
  • Tickets/#9: What’s the current status of Vale?
    • do we make Vale a requirement for docs work or just a recommendation?
    • are we all okay with recommending the COPR as the the official recommended ‘docs team’ way of doing Vale?

Plus, if there’s time, the usual “open floor” section where anyone can bring up other topics.

If you want to add a topic to the next meeting’s agenda, open a ticket somewhere in docs/ on Forgejo (typically the tickets repo) and add it to the Docs Team Meeting Planner project board, or ask someone in the Docs Matrix room to do it for you.

Key Discussion Points

  • Wiki Cleanup:

    • The team discussed the ongoing effort to clean up old Fedora Docs wiki pages, acknowledging that the manual process of redirecting individual pages is tedious and discouraging.
    • A proposal was made to delete entire old categories, especially those over 7 years old, rather than redirecting each page.
    • Concerns were raised about breaking external links from forums if pages are deleted without redirects.
    • The idea of using the MediaWiki API to programmatically identify and manage old pages was suggested. The discussion will continue in the relevant Forge ticket.

  • New Site Builder:

    • Hristo Marinov (@hricky) presented a new site builder playground that relies only on Podman.
    • This is intended for testing new features for the site build process before implementing them in the staging environment.
    • Team members were encouraged to test it.

  • Vale Integration:

    • The team discussed whether to make the Vale linter a requirement or a recommendation for contributions. The consensus was to keep it as a recommendation for now, as it can be too “noisy” and a gradual, rule-by-rule implementation in CI is preferred.
    • There was general agreement that recommending installation via a COPR repository is acceptable.
    • The ideal workflow involves both local use by authors and non-blocking checks in CI for pull requests.
