Hello everyone, this is the agenda for the Docs team meeting on Tuesday, July 18 2026 at 13:00 UTC. The meeting takes place on Matrix, in #meeting. A calendar event is available in Fedocal.

Agenda

  • @pbokoc: Prioritize enforcing the new PR/forking guidelines.
  • @pbokoc: Follow up with RobinSheps regarding the docs lead role for the kernel/booting team.
  • @hricky: Take ownership of the issue regarding monitoring and incident reporting for docs site builds (#53).
  • All: Review the progress on the docsbuilder.sh proposal in PR #46.
  • All: Review the proposal for roles within the “Docs Captain” pilot program and provide feedback in the ticket (#50).
  • All: Review the UI/UX enhancement epic (#51) and its associated project board, provide feedback, and volunteer for tasks if able.

  • Team docs repo module split + the name key in antora.yml and possible URL changes
  • Tickets #52: Frontpage update work
  • Quick Docs #58: Fedora Multimedia Documentation: Provide a unified place in Quick Docs / dedicated site for docs related to third party codecs, hardware drivers, etc.
  • Tickets #43: Get rid of docs-related pages on the Wiki

Plus, if there’s time, the usual “open floor” section where anyone can bring up other topics.

If you want to add a topic to the next meeting’s agenda, open a ticket somewhere in docs/ on Forgejo (typically the tickets repo) and add it to the Docs Team Meeting Planner project board, or ask someone in the Docs Matrix room to do it for you.

Key Discussion Points

  • Announcements:
    • A new Fedora Docs landing page, featuring a new contributions section, is available for review on the staging site: docs.stg.fedoraproject.org.
    • Fedora Flock 2026 session videos are being uploaded and will be published soon.
  • Docs Frontpage Relaunch (Issue #52):
    • Visual design work is on hold for at least 2-3 months as the Design Team is busy.
    • The team can still work on the information architecture and content.
    • A draft of the new landing page is available for review: Making sure you're not a bot!.
  • Antora Repository Structure and URL Changes:
    • A potential issue was identified where multiple repositories might need to share the same name: key in their antora.yml file to be combined into a single documentation component.
    • This would cause significant URL changes, likely requiring many redirects to be configured in Fedora’s infrastructure.
  • Wiki Page Cleanup (Issue #43):
    • The effort to retire old documentation pages from the Fedora Wiki under the Category:Docs_Project is ongoing.
    • Most pages are considered obsolete and can be replaced with a redirect macro pointing to the new documentation site. The work can be done in small chunks.

  • All: Help with the cleanup of old Fedora Docs wiki pages. Instructions are in the comments of issue #43.
  • All: Review and provide feedback on the proposed Documentation Contributor Ladder in issue #58.
