Starting last Sunday (11/17), my Linux/Fedora devices seem to be getting randomly kicked off my home WiFi, and are unable to reconnect until I reboot them.
My household is OS-agnostic, as we’ve got a mix of Windows, Linux, Android, iOS, and MacOS devices. Starting on Sunday, both of my devices running Fedora 40–a PC and a laptop-- suddenly got kicked off the house WiFi network (I was alerted to this in another room by the sound of the two machines making the Cinnamon notification noise over and over as they both tried to reconnect to the WiFi networks and failed). At the time, my troubleshooting to get them to manually reconnect by toggling the WiFi, forgetting the network, and even rebooting the router did nothing. However, they both reconnected without issue after rebooting. No other devices in the house were impacted during this time.
My desktop is a gaming PC and I usually don’t have it on unless I’m actively using it, but the laptop usually stays on, connected to my KVM with the lid shut. Over the past few days, my laptop is now getting disconnected almost once a day, forcing me to reboot it. There is nothing noteworthy I can see in the dmesg log–just that the authentication attempt times out. But again, fresh reboot, and it connects, no problem.

Any suggestions for how to troubleshoot would be appreciated. I don’t think anything has changed in my household in the past week, except my wife getting a Macbook. I also find it incredibly strange that both of my Fedora devices were kicked off at the same time on Sunday–they are both running Fedora 40 Cinnamon, but I’m pretty sure they’re running different kernels. Should I suspect something my ISP’s router is doing?
