Fedora Design Team Meeting (2026-01-12): Council Graphic, FOSDEM Swag, & Community Flyers

Happy Monday, Fedora folks! :waving_hand: Here is a summary of the weekly meeting of the Fedora Design Team held on Monday, 12 January 2026. The Fedora Design Team is responsible for creating the visual identity, artwork, and user experience designs for the Fedora Project, ensuring a consistent and professional look across the distribution and community assets.

Topics discussed in this meeting:

  • Updates to the Fedora Council Strategy Summit venue promo graphic
  • Determining inventory for the FOSDEM swag survey
  • Planning for the “Getting Involved” poster/flyer for upcoming events

Note: AI (Google Gemini) was used to summarize the HTML log of the public meeting. I reviewed and corrected the AI-generated output before posting.

Council Summit graphic

The team discussed necessary feedback for the Council Summit graphic ticket (#127). The specific design direction agreed upon requires bringing the gradient back to a transition from the original Fedora Blue to the New Fedora Blue. Additionally, the Fedora Council logo within the graphic needs to be changed to all white. Once these changes are applied, the graphic is considered good to go.

FOSDEM swag survey

The team addressed the need to identify exactly what swag will be available at the FOSDEM booth to accurately populate the swag survey for attendees.

  • Confirmed Items: @rwright has ordered several stickers for FOSDEM, which will serve as the short-term items confirmed for the event.
  • Additional Inventory: It was noted that leftover swag from CentOS Connect will likely be available at the Fedora booth as well, via @shaunm.
  • Coordination with event team: There is a need to coordinate with @dvolavko, @ffmancera, and @dmellado on the production of any new swag in time for FOSDEM.

Poster/flyer about getting involved with Fedora community

The team reviewed the timeline for the community involvement poster/flyer (#121).

  • Timeline Adjustment: There is not enough time to finalize the design for print before FOSDEM. To avoid rushing the content, the team is pivoting to a digital format for this event.
  • Display Hardware: A mobile monitor (Lenovo form factor) provided by @jflory7 will be used to display a rotating presentation slideshow of the content.
  • Design Concepts:
    • Making the links on the backside accessible via a QR code.
    • Adding a feature allowing users to “print a copy for a friend” which would lead them to a PNG or SVG file.
  • New Deadlines: The team agreed on an ideal deadline of mid-February. The goal is to have printed versions ready for SCaLE 23x (March 5-8, 2026) and FOSSASIA 2026 (March 9-11, 2026).
