Announcements & Updates

Fedora Linux 43 Has Landed!

Fedora Linux 43 was released this past Tuesday! As with any new release, please expect a high volume of traffic and noise across all Fedora platforms. Infrastructure-related requests might be slower than usual due to the heavy load.

Fedora Linux 43 Release Party

The schedule for the upcoming release party is taking shape. Speakers are being contacted to confirm their presentation slots.

AI-Assisted Contributions Policy is Live

The new policy for AI-assisted contributions is now official. Team members shared links to the policy documentation and the new wiki category for tracking its use.

Upcoming Event: Fedora at Kirinyaga University

An in-person event, “Fedora at Kirinyaga University – Info Session & Docs Workshop,” is scheduled for November 8, 2025. This event will introduce students and open source enthusiasts to the Fedora Project, with a focus on contributing to Fedora Docs.

DEI Advisor Updates & Follow-ups

The team received updates from the DEI Advisor and discussed follow-ups from the previous meeting, including a Council request for review on Flock 2026 CFP themes.

Ticket #45: Supporting DEI & regional communities

The main ticket discussion focused on Issue #45: Supporting DEI & regional communities.

The discussion highlighted the fantastic work @lochipi has done in Nairobi and surrounding areas in Kenya, putting the theory of community building into practice. The team noted that there were many “papercuts” and lessons learned during this process that could be valuable for other regional leaders.

An idea was proposed to document these tips and tricks for things like speedy reimbursements, event budgeting, and navigating Fedora processes. This documentation could live with either the DEI Team or the Mindshare Committee. The team agreed it should find more ways to help others follow in these successful footsteps.
