Fedora-Council/tickets ticket #473: Git Forge Evaluation 2024

I think this option is underappreciated. A potential move to e.g. gitlab would be multi-person multi-year effort. Most likely with a non-insiginificant financial transfer from RH to the operator. And it would also require retraining of all our existing contributors to follow the new workflow. When I consider those costs, it seems that we could maintain and improve pagure with a fraction of that effort. If we talk about designing and integrating a completely new system on top of a different forge, than we can certainly provide ongoing tweaks to something that is already functional. Pagure is a bit clunky, but it’s also soooo much simpler than a gitlab or github instance, which means that there’s so much less to understand and maintain.

Yes. We have a few folks contributing to pagure. What can we do to help with those efforts? Also, what are the most important issues that need to be solved? (What to do about src.fedoraproject.org - a long term planning discussion is mostly silent so far, with one report that is seemingly a misunderstanding.)
