Fedora Council Bi-Weekly Agenda: 2026-09-09

Here’s the agenda for the Council meeting 2026-09-09T14:00:00Z→2026-09-09T15:00:00Z:

  • Reminders and Announcements
  • Ticket Discussions:
  • #558 - Fedora Forge Usage Policy
Summary: Version 5 is live; it’s time to consider when to close the feedback loop soon and set a voting date.
  • #513 - Conflict of Interest Guidelines
Summary: A new ticket proposes to officially add the text discussed in the topic to the Council, FESCo and Mindshare docs
  • #567 - Formalize Fedora’s Digital Public Goods Alliance representative responsibility
Summary: This responsibility has been new (ish) for the FCA role. It seems to have begun in 2022 due to prior involvement with the DPGA from our outgoing FCA. It is a great organisation to be included in, however this is new work and Council should discuss if we should and can continue this commitment now that we have a new FCA incoming, or rather already here really.
  • Next Meeting Topics
  • Open Floor

As per our meeting planner board, we will aim to make progress on the tickets in the ‘discussion’ column in this weeks meeting.

All are welcome to join us in #fedora-meeting.

More information about the council meeting and rolling agenda can be found on the council meetings wiki page.

For reference, see issue #576.

Below is the summary of todays council meeting, and links to logs and minutes.

Thank you, as always, to human Aurelien and your minion, bot Aurelien for providing the summary.

Key Discussion Points

  • #558: Fedora Forge Usage Policy
Version 5 of the policy draft is live. As there has been no significant new feedback, the council agreed it is ready to move forward.
A formal vote on the policy will be held at the next council meeting on September 23, 2026.

  • #576: Digital Public Goods Alliance (DPG) Representative
The annual renewal for Fedora’s DPG recognition is overdue.
The council discussed where the responsibility for maintaining this relationship should live.
It was agreed to ask the Mindshare Committee to discuss sharing the responsibility with the Fedora Community Action and Liaison (FCA), where the FCA would handle the annual filing and Mindshare would manage optional engagement.

  • #513: Conflict of Interest Guidelines
This topic was withdrawn from the meeting agenda. The discussion is progressing well on the Fedora Discussion forum and will continue there.

  • #578: Flock to Fedora 2027 CfP Themes
Council members were asked to review this ticket to brainstorm themes for the 2027 conference.
The plan is for the Council to create an initial draft by end of September 2026, get feedback from FESCo and Mindshare, and then post it on the discussion forum for wider community feedback before finalizing with Council ahead of the CfP opening later this year/early next year.

Our next council meeting is scheduled for 2026-09-23 @ 1400 UTC in #fedora-meeting on Matrix. Our agendas are set from our meeting tracker and agendas are posted here and to devel@lists.fedoraproject.org ahead of the meeting. All are welcome to attend.

As a follow-up to the action item from the meeting, I am hoping @shaunm and I can get the application submitted by next Wednesday. :crossed_fingers: I am currently working with the DPGA to make a change to my login information, and to get Shaun an account linked to the Fedora submission in the DPG Registry.
