I saw that @jspaleta was actioned this one. Is there a reason we need to discuss this now, or should we wait for Jef to have some time to come back on a policy?
I know @jspaleta was working on this. I believe he made some progress on creating a wrapper for the Fedora Privacy Policy and Code of Conduct.
Happy to chat more about this.
So, this is just the Bootc Initiative, and from a recent conversation with @jasonbrooks, I think there is the understanding that the Initiative is winding down. So, it would be a good time to discuss about off-boarding the Bootc Initiative and publishing an Initiative wrap-up post.
Summary of the Fedora Council Meeting on July 2, 2025
The Fedora Council met today to advance several key project policies and review community initiatives. The Council discussed progress on an Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) needed for an infrastructure migration of the Fedora Matrix homeserver, as well as a new Conflict of Interest policy.
A significant portion of the meeting focused on developing AI guidelines, with the group deciding to establish flexible, principle-based guidelines before creating a rigid policy. The Council set a deadline of July 16 for Council members and any interested community members to provide feedback on the current draft. Council members also reviewed and provided feedback on an updated job description for the Fedora Community Architect.
The Council also reviewed the status of its official Community Initiatives. @jasonbrooks reported that the Fedora bootc initiative has successfully concluded, having attracted new community members to the project. The Council learned that the Git Forge initiative is progressing, with a staging instance now available and a target for its first phase of completion in October 2025. Following this, the Council will formally onboard the initiative lead, @ryanlerch, as a full member of the Fedora Council.
Finally, I shared that I will be on family medical leave from July 16 to August 6, 2025.
