Hey Fedora folks!
Here is the meeting summary for the Fedora Community Ops (CommOps) Team meeting held on Tuesday, 16 December 2025.
The Community Operations (CommOps) team provides tools, resources, and utilities for the different sub-projects of Fedora to improve effective communication and collaboration. Due to the lack of a formally-triaged agenda and lower quorum, today’s meeting was a casual year-end wrap-up focused on sharing news and announcements before the holidays.
Topics Discussed:
- Upcoming Events: Flock 2026, CentOS Connect, CHAOSScon
- Fedora Linux 44 Election Updates
- Year-End “Recharge” and Availability
- Open Floor: Forgejo Migration, Augur Contributions, Release Party Recap
Note: AI (Google Gemini) was used to summarize the HTML log of the public meeting. I reviewed and corrected the AI-generated output before posting.
News & Announcements
Event Registrations & CFPs
Several major event announcements were shared during the meeting:
- Flock 2026: Registration is now open! The conference will be held June 14-16, 2026 in Prague, Czech Republic. This is the earliest registration has ever opened.
The Call for Papers (CFP) is also open until February 2nd, 2026.
- CentOS Connect: Taking place in Brussels on January 29-30, 2026 (the two days before FOSDEM). The CFP is closed, but registration is free and includes swag and lunch.
- CHAOSScon: Happening in Brussels on January 29, 2026. Topics include metrics development, data science, and Augur software development.
Fedora Linux 44 Elections Update
The voting period for the Fedora Linux 44 elections has been postponed to start on Wednesday, 17 December 2025.
- Reason: A login issue with WordPress sites (i.e. Magazine, Community Blog) regarding OpenID authentication caused by a plugin update delayed the publishing of candidate interviews.
- New Schedule: Voting will still close on Wednesday, 7 January 2026 at 23:59 UTC.
- Watch for official announcements on the
announce@anddevel-announce@mailing lists.
Year-End Recharge
The Fedora Project is approaching its typical year-end “recharge.”
- Expect reduced activity and responses on tickets, chat rooms, and discussion threads over the coming weeks as contributors take time off for the holidays.
Open Floor
Forgejo Migration
The team acknowledged that work on the Forgejo migration is increasingly coming into focus. In 2026, CommOps will look to recruit help for migrating the issue tracker from GitLab to Forgejo.
Contributing to Augur / Fedora Data
@moralcode shared an invitation for contributors to join the Augur project (part of CHAOSS software used for metrics).
- Help Needed: Updating documentation and adding support for more forges (like Forgejo).
- Resources:
- Augur Repository
- CHAOSS Getting Started Guide (Join the
#wg-augur-8knotchannel on CHAOSS Slack).
Release Party Recap
The team celebrated the success of the recent Fedora Linux 43 Release Party, noting steady growth in engagement. Thanks were given to everyone who helped make it happen.
Upcoming Meetings
- Next Meeting: Tuesday, 6 January 2026.
- Help Needed: A meeting chair is needed for the Jan 6th meeting as @jflory7 will be on time-off.
