Fedora Atomic fork Bazzite on a roll

Recently I saw on youtube about Bazzite Linux. And search about it. Hundred of Thousands of views. I learned that It’s a fork of Fedora Atomic. And many are switching it for gaming focused distro.
How does Fedora team feels about this? Is Fedora Atomic closer to replace Fedora Regular distro?

This topic was already discussed to some extent a few months ago. For reference, see Immutability and the Future Direction of Fedora- (Will Fedora eventually become immutable?).

Who is Fedora team? If you mean the Fedora community, I think we can call us happy, that there are other projects using this technology. It helps to make fedora more popular. If you include the targets for 2028, which includes growth of the community, such projects will have an impact, yes.

An other viewpoint might be, that when Bazzite comes out with something nice and new, it will have a positive impact of our infrastructure and community.

Sooner or later this will happen. If I look at it from my perspective, it suggests that the regular distribution will lose interest as Atomic OS slowly comes on the scene. If we look at Silverblue for example, it has existed since longer and gained in the last view years an popularity.

As long as there are legacy infrastructures, there will also be the legacy Fedora". The predominance of one technology over the other will replace itself.

Bazzite is just a section of an atomic OS application. As it looks it is directed to Gaming Computers and Consoles. Make the whole installation and management faster and easier.
