Packaging Updates
- An update to ollama 0.30.x is unlikely before the Fedora 45 branch due to instability with its llama-cpp dependency.
- For Fedora 46, work will focus on improving the llama-cpp integration and transitioning backends like Vulkan out of ollama and into llama-cpp itself.
- Help is needed for both packaging and testing to diversify the supported llama-cpp backends on different hardware architectures.
- The idea of future “AI Test Days” was floated but would require more documentation to be prepared first.
Fedora 45 Testing Plans
- As the F45 branch approaches, focus will shift to testing, particularly for ROCm and its integration with AI tools and other software like Blender.
- Volunteers are needed to help test ROCm on various hardware that the maintainers do not have access to.
GPU Hardware (gpu01) Management
- There is confusion and frustration regarding the management and intended purpose of the gpu01 server.
- The SIG discussed taking a more formal role as the delegated authority for how donated GPU hardware is used.
- The proposed plan is to create public documentation to inventory the hardware, define its intended use (e.g., CI, community use), and make the process more transparent for the community and for hardware donors.
AI Skills Library
- A “sub-team” of “Skills Reviewers” will be formed to help create, review, and curate AI skills in the SIG’s skills library.
- Feedback is requested on the technical approach of using git submodules to integrate these AI skills into other projects.
Action Items
- @jflory7: Open a new ticket to propose a “Hardware” section for the documentation site, which will inventory the hardware made available by the SIG.
