Apologies for not posting about the meeting before it happened but here is a summary and links to minutes.
There has been some discussion about moving the meeting time earlier in the day. If that’s something you’re interested in, the initial conversation will probably be in matrix but there will be a post on discourse before we make any final decisions.

ROCm 8.x Update
- A change proposal for ROCm 8.x is in progress for Fedora.
- To avoid breakage seen in previous major updates, a new compatibility proposal has been created. This would allow multiple ROCm versions to be installed side-by-side, with a proposed layout like /usr/lib64/rocm/rocm-..
- SIG members are requested to review the ROCm 8.x change proposal and the compatibility proposal and provide feedback.
New Package Review: ggml (libggml)
- Upstream ggml now supports being unbundled from applications like llama.cpp and whisper.cpp.
- The goal is to package libggml separately in Fedora, allowing applications to build against a system library. This would centralize maintenance and feature enablement (e.g., Vulkan, ROCm support).
- Syncing libggml with the fast-moving llama.cpp may be challenging, so some packages might continue to bundle it initially.
- The package review request is available at Bugzilla #2430570.
Meeting Schedule
- The current meeting time is late for participants in European time zones, including the Red Hat CPT team in Brno who has expressed interest in AI/ML work.
- There is general interest in moving the meeting to an earlier time to accommodate more people.
Open Floor
- The python-tokenizers package is now available in Fedora 44 and Rawhide.
Action Items
- Gordon Messmer: Reach out to the Red Hat CPT team to gauge their interest in moving the meeting to an earlier time and determine their availability.
