F44 Branch Readiness

  • The F44 mass rebuild has exposed several issues, particularly with Python packages.
  • trix is actively working on fixes for ROCm packages (ck, rccl) by reducing their build times.
  • PyTorch has significant segfault issues on aarch64, tracked in Bugzilla #2431943.
  • A list of other Python packages requiring attention was identified: python-accelerate, python-datasets, python-einops, python-safetensors, python-torchaudio, python-torchsde, python-torchtext, and python-torchvision.
  • Updates to other packages, like ollama, are paused until the F44 branching issues are resolved.

AI Packagers SIG

  • The SIG is seeking more contributors for packaging tasks in the AI/ML ecosystem.
  • tflink expressed interest in packaging the lemonade backend.

New Package Review: ggml (libggml)

  • Discussion was postponed to the next meeting due to the topic owner’s absence.
  • Concerns were raised about ggml being a fast-moving project like llama-cpp, which could make it difficult to maintain as a separate package. It was noted that python-llama-cpp now bundles its own version.
