So let’s have that. There is no reason this needs to be made into an initiative right /now/. Let’s have the remix exist; form a SIG with the appropriate communication channels. Build up a community around it before making it an initiative. If it turns out to be nice, popular, sustaining, and not a drag on community resources and more importantly community togetherness then an initiative feels appropriate if desired, as the goals have likely already been achieved at that point.
This feels like a huge amount of uncertainty, disregard for well-established community members and their concerns, and a train that must leave the station for something that in reality is just that. A remix. That could’ve come into existence without any of that and then after existing for a while has a much better chance of convincing us that ‘hey yea this is feasible and it is a good thing’.
The above is aside from all the technical limitations I see in the ideas that have been floated here.
