I do not think that promoting an AI Developer Edition as a Council Initiative is sending the signal at all that we are interested in ethics. It is sending the signal that we are happy to engage and contribute to the status quo and immediate development of AI as it is.
This need for a special space would again highlight how we value AI considerably, and that it is special and worthy. Perhaps instead you could write an article for Fedora Magazine on how you envision an ethical technological future that does contain AI?
Use the existing channels with existing readerships to make Ethical AI part of Fedora, not something superior or different.
And as a note, I don’t think an AI Developer Spin needs a Council Initiative. Being an Initiative means it is a core focus for Fedora to produce that item and make sure it is successful. As an Initiative, the message is that AI, as it is, is something we need to promote.
