Fedora 45 Beta Sugar on a Stick installer doesn't start

Description

The Fedora 45 Beta Sugar on a Stick (SoaS) installer does not start, when launched from its Live image.

If you try to start the installer (liveinst) from a terminal, you can see this error output:

Default browser set in anaconda.conf: firefox
Using default browser: firefox
Using Firefox browser command: /usr/bin/env ... /usr/bin/firefox ...
env: '/usr/bin/firefox': No such file or directory

Bugzilla report: #2531475

Cause

The generated Anaconda runtime configuration contains:

[User Interface]
webui_web_engine = firefox

and:

[Profile]
profile_id = fedora

SoaS uses the generic Fedora Anaconda profile, where the default Web UI browser is set to Firefox. This is not correct for SoaS, because Firefox is not present on the image. The image contains slitherer instead. As a result, the installer exits before the Web UI is shown.

Workarounds

  1. Open the terminal application.

  2. Edit the profile configuration file fedora.conf

    sudo nano /etc/anaconda/profile.d/fedora.conf

    and change:

    webui_web_engine = firefox

    to:

    webui_web_engine = slitherer

  3. Save the file.

  4. Then start the installer again using

    liveinst

The installer starts normally using Slitherer as a webui engine and you can complete the installation.

We already have a verified fix and so this will be fixed in the Fedora 45 final image.
