Fedora 44 Workstation - Audio Not Working

Good Afternoon:

Been using an AMD NUC for a while with Fedora 44 and loving it. Sad to say the NUC died.

I went for the ASUS TUF A14 gaming laptop running the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ chipset. Installed Fedora 44, and getting no audio. I checked the settings under sound, and it says “Dummy Ouput”. Tried reinstalling / refreshing the audio system through the console - no dice.

Reinstalled Windows (bleh), and the audio works fine, so I know it is not a hardware defect.

Put Fedora back on, and here we are…square one…

“aplay -l” yeilds the following:

I don’t know if this is exactly the same model as yours, but according to this discussion, audio support should be fixed for it in kernel 7.2.

If you want to test that, Fedora 45 already has the 7.2 kernel. So you could download a Fedora 45 live ISO (look for “Workstation Live” in the “Fedora 45” column there), write it to a USB, boot into that and see if you get working audio.
