After upgrading to Fedora 44, USB tethering stopped working. In system settings it is showing cable not plugged.
Welcome to Fedora @random-ghosty
I can not confirm that. My upgrade to F44 I made last week works.
- You might check, if your mobile is on the correct usb setting (tethering).
- Test usb2 and also usb3 connector.
Usb-Tethering is separately listed like this:
What you see is your internal adapter if you have one.
Try point 2 mentioned above and test in between with lsusb if you see the device connected. Of course keeping point 1 in mind.
P.S.
What mobile device and OS on it are you using ?
Try to do what I told you and switch it on a USB3 Port. Now it looks like it is on USB2.
I tell you this because of power consumption.
You can check the “Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub” above is Bus 004 and your Motorola on Bus 001 which is usb2. Always check and verifier the bus alias the root hubs Bus or ID.
I told you that it is not a problem of Fedora. I updated mine and it works. If we do have more information we can help you better.
Can you please do this to get more information about your system? :
First, please reboot your computer, then restart your mobile phone and just then switch on usb tethering, and last connect it to the computers usb.
I see above your Motorola just works on usb2 ports, is this right? Was this always so?
Yes, you were absolutely correct. The USB-tethering problem isn’t a Fedora 44 problem. It was my mobile problem; it started working after I restarted my phone. My Motorola Edge 50 series phone went back to the safe previous version of the USB protocol, which is Motorola 3rd gen, due to some error. Thank you for helping me out and staying patient throughout this issue.
