Fedora 44 total fail

Today I try fedora ws 44 as kde and gnom and find out the iso are corupted. I download them more then 5 times from diverse laptops and pc and I find the same bug. The iso give error when it rich 96% of install.
After 7 houers of trying to use this offocial ISO, I stoped and consider FEDORA 44 an total flop.
Today lunch is a total flop and usless 7 h lost of my life.

You may have hit this issue here: Installation sometimes doesn't finish, the spinner spins forever

Use the “Everything” (or “netinstall”) image: Miscellaneous Downloads | The Fedora Project

Why did you put the ISO out there if they don’t work???

because nobody proposed the related bug as “final release blocking bug”.

see 2442147 – F44 UI sometimes hangs near end of install on slow machines

Do you mean when it verifies the checksum during boot? Or does it crash during installation? (Sharing a photo goes a long way to understand what you’re trying to report).

There can be a problem with one specific network mirror near your location, serving you a corrupted image. Use sha256sum to compare the downloaded image against the official checksum (click the Verify button next to download).

If the image is OK on your disk, then your flash drive can be corrupt. Try a different one.

No, that doesn’t give an error. That’s a different problem.

This is bad. I downlod it 6 time the ISO and the same error at the install. When it reach 96% it fail the install. The error look like an redhot error from 2 yers ago. I dont find a picture to send you. It was an redhat error that went tru 96% and then fails tha instalation.
Then I instaled the net version and KDE and my apps and now is working but it seem to have some bags this fedora 44 KDE.I use AI to help me fix them and lost all day for an ISO install. I consider this a FAIL LUNCH.
Last time it took me 35 min to install and setup fedora KDE 43. It was like a good dream.
Today , all day … :frowning:

Well if you can’t provide useful details, we can hardly help you, or fix any problem. My current assumption is that you received a corrupted ISO, or your flash drive is broken. In order to rule that out, you need to check the checksum of the downloaded ISO, and run the checksum verification during the install media boot (it’s the default boot option). If all of that is good, we need logs from the failed installation attempt.

People use linux on a wide variety of machines, but linux developers (many working for vendors) tend to have newer models. Users with older systems or unusual hardware should take advantage of pre-release testing, and may need one of the alternate installers.

All the images certainly work in general. But of course there can be failures specific to a particular hardware or disk contents. Which still doesn’t need to be this case, it can just be a faulty flash drive. Without any info, we can’t tell.

I am BACK. 2 days ago I tryed to install fedora 44 KDE (the oficial ISO) ona desktop whit : rayzen 5 7400, 32GB RAM, Nvidia 4060 and a ssd from samsung, and it fail alot. More de 10 times and I download that same ISO 6 times to be sure is not corrupted and didn’t work.
The same USB stick whit the same ISO that didn’t work in my amd desktop, I put it in a old laptop whit intel 4100 cpu and 8GB RAM and worked perfect whit no problems. :frowning:
The difference is that I connected the laptop to internet before starting the process of installing it.
I hope this info will help you. I suspect :

  1. A bios setup on my AMD desktop that don’t let the install to finish.
  2. A bad implementation of network driver for cable connection on the ISO. This because after installing the netversion on the desktop, I notice that the connection had 2 tipes off : “enp7s0”. One was not working well and this on is working fine.
I try it on the laptop so I can make a picture to the error and send it to you , but the install went well. If the error apears again I will come back whit more info.
I really love FEDORA KDE 44 and version 43 and hope you all continua to dev and make it better. Have a good day.

PS : I am interested in that new project “fedora homelab” but I don’t know where to look for info and team that dev it. If you know pls send me an msg or email. I can help whit that project.

I gather the network installer was a success other than the ethernet issue. It would be very helpful if you can post (as pre-formatted web discoverable text, using the <\> button which is sometimes hidden behind a “+”) the output from running inxi -Fzxx in a terminal. You will probably need to install the inxi package, which pulls in lots of small packages. This may help others with similar hardware, as well as proving information needed to improve the new installer.
