Fedora 44 release date

Is there a release date for Fedora 44 yet?

From what I’ve seen, it seems like it’s officially releasing on April 14th.

According to Fedora Linux 44 Schedule: Key that is correct. Thus, it should be released tomorrow.

I don’t think so. See this post to the devel-announce list:

That is the planning date if the release criteria are meet.

At the moment there are blocker bugs that need to be fixed/mitigated before 44 is ready.

So that date will change.

It will be at least April 21 2026

You cannot say that definitively.
It will be at least April 21 2026, or later

The release will occur only if the known blocker bugs are fixed before the next GO - NO GO meeting and the decision is GO. At times the delay has run as much as 5 to 6 weeks late.

I think “at least X” already means “X or later”.

Must be long since?
As long as we do have a nice user experience I am fine with a delay

A search shows this, and it was included in the test email I received as well.

History shows that f39 was not released until Nov 7, 2023. Almost a full month after the scheduled release date. and f37 was released on Nov 15, 2022 which was a full month past the scheduled date.

21st April is a no-go - so we’re now looking at 28th April (or later).

For reference: Making sure you're not a bot!

Wondering if there will be the release party this time?
currently the page says it is scheduled for next friday

I don’t know, but since the release is currently set for later than the date of the party listed on that page I have to suspect it may be rescheduled.

Or maybe not, since the new and updated features are already there, just a few bugs that are hiding and not directly related to apps.

April 28th.

Kudos to them for delaying the release instead of forcibly pushing a bugged release.

@jflory7 @lochipi for vis

This is the process that every Fedora release goes through.
If you are interested in the details watch for the blocker review meeting invite and click through to the blocker page.

For today’s meeting it’s Fedora 44 Final Blocker Bugs

Fedora never pushes a release when there are significant bugs. The release has at times been delayed up to 3 months. Note the dates shown here. Fedora 26 was 12 weeks later than planned.

If a release is delayed by three months, does the version after that come out after three months, or is it pushed back also, to make a six month gap?
