Fedora 44 on MINISFORUM V3

Hello there! Seibz here. I’ve recently tested Bazzite and Fedora Workstation on this MINISFORUM V3 tablet that I’ve received, refurbished, recently.

Bazzite had various issues with hardware, so I moved to Fedora. Fedora seems to work flawlessly with everything…except for brightness control? Odd.

It was recommended to check out this github repo for any tips and tricks for running linux on this tablet, however I don’t have any of the problems mentioned on there. Instead, its just brightness control via the buttons on the keyboard nor gnome brightness control working. I’ve installed brightnessctl as well and that hasn’t worked.

All of this is quite odd to me, because the brightness control was fully working in the Fedora 44 installer, but not now…perhaps that ran an older, more-compatible kernel?
Current fastfetch, will grab logs if anyone needs them.

Fedora depends on the upstream linux kernel for hardware support.

That feature of your hardware will need to have support in the linux kernel to work it seems. You could try searching for linux kernel and your hardware to see if there is work ongoing.

Brightness is often broken of Fedora, I have had it working, updated kernel and its broken again.

Glad the minisforum pc is working well, they do some fantastic little beasts.

going to upgrade the system and firmware today and see how that goes

upgraded the firmware as well as the kernel and it looks like whatever older kernel the installer for Fedora 44 (as of last week) was on, had a working brightness control

Looks like brightness control is fully functional after awakening from sleep, odd workaround.
