Fedora 44 Battery Drain

Hi,

My fedora 44 system drains battery so quickly, as much as 1 percent every single minute.

However when I check my energy-rate levels from upower, I see the the current energy-rate is around 7 watss for my 45W battery, which should not consume 1 percent every minute. Either GNOME misreports the battery percentage, or something is not adding up. For reference, I am adding the upower and fastfetch outputs:

upower:

Is your laptop BIOS up to date? If not update it and see if the issue changes.

My manufacturer (Lenovo) only provides .exe files for this specific laptops bios updates. Thus, I can not update it from Fedora.

Lenovo support the fwupdmgr tool.

See if sudo fwupdmgr get-updates finds firmware to update.
Then you can apply with sudo fwupdmgr update.

I guess my system is all up to date. see:

doruk@fedora:~$ sudo fwupdmgr get-updates

Someone else with more knowledge of laptop power stuff will need to help you further.

Check powertop to see what’s using the battery (if it’s not a reporting issue).
