Fedora 44 7.0.4 crash on Zenbook S16 UM5606GA

Bonjour a tous,

Was about to report the very same problem.

Issue: When booting with Kernel 7.0.4-200.fc44.x86_64: The screen freezes completely as soon as the login screen is shown (no mouse movement, no keys). However, it seems that it is still possible to enter the user password and with enter, the login proceeds. Screen will change to the desktop wallpaper and freezes again. Therefore I conclude that it might be related to gfx driver.

Everything works perfectly fine with Kernel 6.19. I’m running Fedora KDE 43 since day 1. Upgraded to Kernel 7 (FC44) today, which introduced this issue.

Here the inxi -F output:

adding amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x200 to linux command in grub solves the issue.

Seems like a regression of

Thx, now i can finally do the update :smiley:

Unfortunately the kernel parameter doesn’t solve the freezing after moving the mouse on the login screen.

Closing and opening the lid unfreezes the screen for a time, but it freezes again.

try this one : amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x600 [from ASUS Zenbook UM5606 - ArchWiki]

amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x200 work fine for me

Yup. 0x600 did the trick.
This was fixed in 6.14 (IIRC). It’s strange it suddenly turns up i 7.0 again.
