Fedora 43: Unsupported display mode 317

Booting Fedora 43 from a thumb drive. It works fine on my laptop but when I try to boot my desktop, which has an Nvidia 3080 GPU, it fails. The Troubleshoot boot path gets me the message Unsupported display mode 317. I don’t know how to get past there. The same desktop has run Fedora 42 just fine for months. This problem is the same with the base spin and the XFCE spin. In the troubleshooting path I tried guessing at display mode 307, which continued the boot until it tried to start lightd, which hung. My guess is that the problem is related to the Nvidia GPU since the same thumb drive boots without problem on my laptop which has a generic display.

Which Eddition/Spin are you testing?

I do have the F43 Workstation Iso. There I have the option Troubleshooting, did you test that (if you have Gnome).
There it has a graphic basic mode. Did you test?

Here’s how I solved the problem: On the initial boot screen I selected “Troubleshooting –>” . It offered a list of possible display sizes, none of which matched the actual size of my display (2560x1440). So I selected option “e” which was the biggest display size offered. This produced the usual startup screen, of course at the reduced size that option “e” specified. I successfully installed Fedora 43 by clicking on the Install icon. When that was done I rebooted, and once again it required me to select option “e”. With Fedora running I installed akmod-nvidia and waited while it compiled. When the compile was done I rebooted, and AGAIN it required me to select option “e”. However now the nvidia driver was working and the display was at the correct size. So everything is now working as it did in earlier releases except that at every boot I must select option “e”.
