Fedora 43 Silverblue is by far the worst release yet (no offense)

Issues I’ve been running into since I upgraded a week ago:

  • Can’t update due to a repository bug.

  • After moving the Chrome repository to perform the upgrade and reboot, Nautilus won’t open folders (it just keeps loading endlessly).

  • Constant crashes that send me back to the login screen.

  • Anything Chromium-based causes freezes or crashes.

This is just what I’ve found so far since I started using it. :face_with_peeking_eye:

At least some of the crashes (drag-and-drop and chromium related) should be fixed by this update: https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2025-98a66bf1df that landed in the stable repos only three days ago - not sure how big the delay is for Silverblue, but if you update your system today you should definitely get that one (I think).

Thanks Fabio, I think the most critical bug right now is that Nautilus takes ages to open a single folder, do you know if someone is working to fix that?

As far as I can tell, that’s not a widespread problem, at least I haven’t seen it myself and I haven’t read about it. So it might be worth filing a bug for this specific issue.

The issue appears on the latest upgrade, when I open a folder the loading icon spins and says loading, the more files I have the longer the wait and I’m talking minutes not seconds:

That should be really annoying. I am on F43 Silverblue, rebased from F42, but haven’t noticed such an issue, nor reported by other forum users either. System or user-related maybe?

Got the cause of the issue: glib2-2.86.1-1 slows nautilus 49.1-1 down to a standstill (#13) · Issues · Arch Linux / Packaging / Packages / glib2 · GitLab
