Fedora 43 Plasma Desktop Edition - Marknote needs rebuild against kf6-kmime; doesn't load built against kmime

Marknote package no longer loads in Fedora 43 Plasma Desktop Edition. It flashes briefly in the taskbar and vanishes. Almost a month later it has still not been rebuilt. The failure is apparently that it was built against (obsolete) kmime, and must be rebuilt agaisnt kf6-kmime.

I did build it against kf6-kmime and Marknote now loads and works. I am not a dev and it was a dependency hell gauntlet for me, plus I have no idea what wreckage may be left behind from ‘dnf5 remove kmime*’

The problem may have first appeared with first kernel upgrade from 7.0 to 7.1.

Is this something the package maintainer should handle?

Yes. Please file a bug at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/ against the marknote component to give the package maintainer the information you posted above.

Thank you! I get confused by the multitudinous paths and layers of current bug reporting, with all the filtering overhead to prevent anyone from discovering I am merely a mutated DOS batch file with an agenda

2503115 – Fedora 43 Marknote from repo compiled against obsolete kmime, will not run and no new package <–bug submitted, thanks to your small gesture to point the way

I can reproduce the issue with marknote on f43 (undefine symbol error).

On f44 marknote runs.

Maybe you can upgrade to f44 to get a working version?
