Fedora 43 hangs after logging in

Everything, including mouse, completely freezes until I hard reboot PC.
First time it happened randomly, and then it happens every time I try to log in. Both xorg and wayland. I can enter TTY while on login screen with Ctrl + Alt + F2. Similar issue happened to someone because of zsh, but I use bash. I also tried to use older kernel + I removed proprietary NVIDIA drivers and enabled nouevau. I have a bunch of GNOME extensions that could be the root of issue, but idk how to temporarily turn them off to test.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @rikopara , welcome to the forum,

Yeh, that could be an issue. There are two ways:

The second option will immediately tell us if it’s a system issue or an issue with that particular use account. With the first option, you can disable all extensions and turn them on one by one to see which one is causing the trouble.

I’m not seeing anything that immediately pops out from the logs. Maybe tailscale? You could try disabling that to see if it helps?

Yeah, it was GNOME extension “Copyous” to blame.

SOLUTION:

  1. While on login screen, press Ctrl + Alt + F2 to open terminal
  2. Login and type gnome-extensions disable copyous@boerdereinar.dev
  3. Press Ctrl + Alt + F1 to return to login screen and login

Did not install copyous?
Use gsettings set org.gnome.shell disable-user-extensions true to turn off all extensions at once.
