Fedora 43 Gnome Wayland Freezing when External Monitors Plugged in

Hey everyone,

I’ve encountered an issue with Fedora 43 on my Thinkpad, where when I have two monitors hooked up (one via usb-c hdmi hub, one via hdmi port), my laptop screen will freeze with whatever content is on it. I can still mouse over to it, but I can’t see it changing on my laptop screen.

Should maybe mention that one of my monitors is 165hz and the rest are 60hz, if it plays a part at all

If it’s frozen like this, and I hit my Super key to enter the Gnome task switcher, the entire system freezes for 5-10 seconds, and then after the system regains consciousness, the laptop screen works again for around 10 minutes

My laptop has an AMD Ryzen™ 7 PRO 4750U with Radeon™ Graphics × 16
I’m on kernel version 6.18.6-200.fc43.x86_64

journalctl logs from a freeze:

From looking at this, I assumed it’s an issue with the AMD gpu driver, so I downgraded my kernel version using the ones appearing in my GRUB, but none of them worked. Likely a longer standing issue because this issue only appeared when I first started using three monitors.

Is there anything that can be done about this, or do I just kinda have to wait and pray that new AMD drivers will appear that fix this issue.

Thanks!

I have a Dell laptop with i915 graphics one old 1680x1050 external monitor via usb-c HDMI hub. I do see gnome-shell[PID]: Can't update stage views actor unnamed [ClutterActor] is on because it needs an allocation. repeated times, but without a noticeable freeze so the freeze may be related to the AMD GPU errors. https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=311812 might be the same.
