Fedora 43: Echo Dot connects but sends audio to laptop instead of acting as speaker

This is a weird one and I can’t figure out what’s going on.

I’m on Fedora 43 and trying to use my Echo Dot as a Bluetooth speaker for my laptop. Randomly, instead of my laptop sending audio to Alexa, Alexa seems to be sending audio to my laptop, so music/sounds end up playing through the laptop speakers instead.

I’ve reset the Alexa, forgotten and re-paired the devices multiple times. My AirPods connect and work fine with the laptop, and when I connect my phone to Alexa it behaves normally as a speaker.

Has anyone seen this before on Fedora/Linux or knows how to force the correct Bluetooth audio profile?

Sounds crazy, does this happen with other bluetooth audio devices do you have airpods you can test with?

I have another alexa, tested with it same issue and with airpods everything works as expected.

I’ve been having the same problem for 2 days now; it seems to have appeared out of nowhere with some update. This is frustrating because I was using it as a speaker.
