Fedora 43 does not recognize battery has been removed on ASUS X751L

Hiya, I’m getting an old ASUS X751L running and the first thing I noticed was that its battery was totally shot. Just reading 0% and not going up, even though it reported it as “charging”.

Whatever, I think. I might as well take it out since it’s useless anyway. Then, when I start the machine, GNOME shows the red “empty battery” icon at 0% and “not charging”, which is strange, because there’s no battery to charge.

I think it should recognize that it’s running on direct power. Any tips?

Seems like it could be related to this old issue, especially since it’s an ASUS, but I’m not sure: Battery charge indicator broken on certain ASUS motherboards, automatic suspend doesn't work
