I have a Folder in my home dir where i keep a lot of useful stuff all relevant to linux.
In particular, Icons for my Desktop Shortcuts to things like My Emails, Ebay, and a lot of other usefull apps and places.
A lot of my desktop shortcuts are created in google chrome and placed on the desktop.
I have used this procedure in a lot of other distros, like ubuntu , linux mint etc, all without any problems.
Now with fedora 42 it doesn’t see my folder with the icons or just doesn’t like it for some reason and so i can’t use those icons.
I would really appreciate it if some kind person could show me just how to go about it.

Could you provide a bit more information? What DE are you using? What have you tried so far?

Install gnome extension Desktop Icons NG (DING) - GNOME Shell Extensions that will allow you to see your files on desktop

That’s assuming the OP uses Gnome.
But the post was quite vague (“a folder in my home dir”) without specific reference to which DE or how they tried to use this folder for desktop icons. For me, it wasn’t clear whether the issue was how to tell the DE to use, e.g., ~/my_desktop_shortcuts as folder for the desktop or if the issue was indeed Gnome’s design choice regarding desktop icons, that’s why I asked for clarification first.
