Fedora 41 KDE intermittently unable to enter suspend mode correctly

Hi everyone, this is my first post on this forum, so please tell me if any formatting, etc. needs changed!

I’ve been experiencing some tricky sleep issues with Fedora 41 KDE for the last couple months (pretty much all of the 6.13 kernel, I believe I also tried 6.12 and had a similar issue). The symptoms are the following:

Automatic sleep/suspend (S3) sometimes does not work fully

What I mean by this is that when the computer attempts to enter sleep, both monitors do shutdown, and my keyboard shuts off. However, I can still see the fans inside my computer spinning, along with some LEDs on my graphics card. When this happens, the computer wakes up no problem and I can continue as normal. This behavior is very randomly occurring from what I can tell, I’ve tried to unplug specific peripherals (mouse, keyboard) and it doesn’t seem to reliably change the behavior. When sleep does work, it works exactly as expected (all peripherals turn off, fans and lights also turn off). I’d like to fix this just to reduce the wasted energy and amount of dust intake to the computer when it’s left overnight, etc.

I’ll attach two journal logs in the replies here, one where sleep does work and one where it doesn’t. I can see the line:

In the non-working log, but I have no idea what is causing it or how to troubleshoot further. For reference, the important specs of my computer are the following:

  • CPU: AMD 7800X3D
  • GPU: NVidia RTX4070 Super (note, I installed proprietary NVidia drivers from RPM Fusion)
  • Motherboard: ASRock B850 Pro A WiFi

I also have Windows installed on another drive, and sleep does work correctly there. Not sure if that’s useful or not.

Does anyone have any ideas on next troubleshooting steps or what the cause could be?

I also encountered a similar problem. I’m using a ROG G14 (2024). When I connect an external monitor using the integrated graphics, it can sleep normally, but when I connect an external monitor using the discrete graphics 4060m, it wakes up immediately after sleeping.

But I don’t know how to solve this problem.
