Fedora 41 6.12 thermal instability on Zenbook laptop

Hi all!

I have recently switched to linux, and I don’t know a whole lot about how this OS works and how to fix stuff when something doesn’t work. My laptop model is ASUS Zenbook 14 UX3405MA (see neofetch screenshot).

So far, the experience has been great, but when I updated to Linux kernel 6.12.4-200, the CPU heated up to 3 digit temperatures doing basic tasks (like watching YouTube) and shut down twice before I swtiched back to kernel 6.11.11-300, which seems to be stable.

Does anybody has this problem, or know how to solve it, or where to look?

Thanks in advance for any piece of advice

Welcome to Fedora @daniillutskiy

You might want to make this kernel as default. Here the procedure if you need it.

There is a new kernel been released this days 6.12.6 if you like to test. Please also check that you are booting with a working kernel, that you not overwrite the it if you do the upgrade with a buggy one.

Please check on the Asus site for additional drivers for the power/thermal management. As I remember users related that it was necessary for they zeenbooks.
