Fedora 40 - Video Problems

The Problem:

  • When using the default ‘Videos’ player I get “An error occurred | Could not initialise OpenGL support”
  • I tried to search for a solution myself and tried installing VLC (was suggested to someone with similair problem in the forum). Now files open but after 10 minutes they crash abruptly with no message given.

I had some trouble with installing nvidia drivers before that so I can imagine there might be problem with the drivers but I don’t know.

I won’t be much help with any nvidia stuff but you might consider starting by looking at the systemd log, and/or running vlc from the terminal. You might get an error when something crashes that way. journalctl -b -0 to see systemd log from current boot.
