The powerline symbols (e.g. U+2B9A) are used for various terminal based graphics. In Fedora 39, Noto Sans Mono (default terminal font) shipped with powerlines included. In Fedora 40, Noto Sans Mono does not have powerlines, so some terminal graphics don’t work correctly.
As a workaround, other fonts like ‘hack’ (installed with dnf install source-foundry-hack-fonts
) do still include powerlines.
