Fedora 38 fails to resume from hibernate

So i’m trying to get my Inspiron 5570 to hibernate.
It seems to hibernate fine, but waking from hibernation always fails.
I’m not sure what else I need to do to troubleshoot this.

It LOOKS like it’s loading the resume image just fine, but then I get:
Thu Jul 6 19:13:16 2023] PM: hibernation: Failed to load image, recovering.
[Thu Jul 6 19:13:16 2023] PM: hibernation: Basic memory bitmaps freed
[Thu Jul 6 19:13:16 2023] OOM killer enabled.
[Thu Jul 6 19:13:16 2023] Restarting tasks … done.
[Thu Jul 6 19:13:16 2023] PM: hibernation: resume failed (-16)

Update your bios first and turn off fastboot or first-startup which is known to create issues.

Bios is already updated to the latest (1.14.0). It was updated just a few months ago.
Fastboot is at “Thorough”

Set fastboot to off and it should change the behavior.

Unfortunately that’s not an option. The only options are

  • Minimal
  • Thorough
  • Auto

Set it to minimal. This is the only thing you can do rtw.

Ahh, I will try that after some evening work stuff. I figured Thorough would be the correct one. Glad I asked. Will report back.

That looks like the setting within bios.

There is also a setting within windows to turn on fastboot, which seems where most of the problems of this sort originate.
