Fedora 34: Can't Join Displays after screen locks

After updating to Silverblue 34, I notice that joining displays via my computer’s HDMI port does not work after my computer enters a locked/hibernate mode.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Join an external monitor via HDMI. Use GNOME settings to join the displays.
  2. Wait for the computer to lock/hibernate (screen goes blank, requires sign in to see desktop)
  3. Wake the computer up and sign in.

This has happened with two different monitors. After hibernation, the computer thinks it is connected to the external monitor (as evidenced by the options in GNOME settings), even after disconnecting the HDMI cable.
