Fan speed control and charging problem in fedora

I have been using MSI GF63 for the last four years ,i have recently switched to Fedora .I have been controlling the fan speed using Dragon center in windows and now i cannot control it and it feels like since i have started using fedora my system is overheating and i cannot do anything ,once the temperature crosses 70 degree celcius the charging will automatically stop even if the plug is on.What can i do to resolve this?

Welcome Akshay,

Tell us more about your Fedora system. ie, Are you on Gnome? KDE? Silverblue?

Hi Akshay,

Welcome to Fedora!

I have a similar MSI laptop (GS63)… My solution was to get into the “Advanced BIOS” interface and set the fan on/off points manually. You get to the advanced BIOS by pressing <Delete> while powering up the computer until you get to the “Normal BIOS”. Once in BIOS, press <Alt>+<RtCtrl>+<Shift>+F2 … this will put you into the “Advanced BIOS”. The settings you are looking for are in the “Advanced” Tab under “Platform Thermal Configuration”. BE CAREFUL with these settings!!!
