Failed to download "updates" metadata

I recently cannot use sudo dnf upgrade.

Is this just affecting the Asia-based server or just me ?

404 is a return code from each server, so it’s not just you - it’ll be the same for everyone.

It is only some servers, presumable the ones you are trying, from Asia. The Asian mirrors don’t update as fast as say EU, US or AU mirrors, but they usually come back pretty quickly.

My servers in EU at this time are working fine, although 1 minute ago, my update did 404 on a couple of mirrors, which is usual, but found one it could use.

Give it another try now, in an hour, and then a day. If after that it is still 404, we can help you set another mirror in another region.

Idk how to revert it back to default because I thought it will stored at /etc/dnf/dnf.conf but it didn’t.

also maybe try mirror outside Asia

Nope, it has not changed anything in there.

Usually I would edit the repos file directly. Sometimes the syntax is a little difficult, so if someone edits a file to an AU mirror, AARNET is a great one, they could post the config here.

Okay I live in SEA and I face this same issue. Here is what might help you and others step by step.

Run these commands to set your fedora mirror to USA (outside Asia, I found AU to has problems as well)

sudo dnf5 config-manager setopt fedora.metalink='https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metalink?repo=fedora-$releasever&arch=$basearch&country=us'

sudo dnf5 config-manager setopt updates.metalink='https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metalink?repo=updates-released-f$releasever&arch=$basearch&country=us'

Run sudo dnf clean all
Run sudo dnf makecache

Wait for it to finish

Okay I realized it also do not add the correct metalink but it works fine for me??

grep metalink /etc/yum.repos.d/fedora.repometalink=https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metalink?repo=fedora-$releasever&arch=$basearchmetalink=https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metalink?repo=fedora-debug-$releasever&arch=$basearchmetalink=https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metalink?repo=fedora-source-$releasever&arch=$basearch

But my question is where those commands store at? I didn’t see any change on either /etc/dnf/dnf.conf and/or /etc/yum.repos.d/

that’s my problem too when I asked:

Idk how to revert it back to default because I thought it will stored at /etc/dnf/dnf.conf but it didn’t.

So those commands only changed fedora and updates repos, what about other repos like RPM Fusion and Copr? Did it change to us too?
