This document represents a proposed Change. As part of the Changes process, proposals are publicly announced in order to receive community feedback. This proposal will only be implemented if approved by the Fedora Engineering Steering Committee.
The Anaconda WebUI is becoming the standard installer experience across Fedora. This proposal extends that transition to Fedora Atomic installer ISOs, providing a consistent installation experience with current Live installations.

Scope
Proposal owners:
- Switch Fedora Atomic installer ISOs to use the Anaconda WebUI.
- Complete validation and testing across all affected Atomic variants.
The package for WebUI installer is maintained by the installer team and has dependency on Cockpit. There are not unfinished work items blocking this initiative.
Contingency Plan
Contingency mechanism: If significant issues are identified before the release, Fedora Atomic installer ISOs will revert to using the GTK-based Anaconda installer
Contingency deadline: We have the contingency plan ready

Small nit: This should say the Fedora Atomic Desktops Installer ISO as there are currently no installer ISO produced for the Fedora Atomic / bootc base images in Fedora and if I’m not mistaken this is only for the ostree based images right now.
This is probably unintended fallout though also not the worst thing in the world. Since Fedora itself doesn’t produce anything from bootable containers (at least not for the artifacts listed here) it’s mostly out of scope for the change process.
However, we should probably be pretty loud that people building their own installer containers and then converting them to ISOs will start getting the Web UI.
If memory serves me right, Anaconda WebUI allows manually specifying all needed partitions, including distinct /boot and /boot/efi partitions, separate from the existing ones in case of a dual-boot setup. If true, and users will be able to install Fedora Atomic alongside another OS (even if manual partitioning is needed), then I’m all in favor of this proposal.
