F44 LenovoT420 (Intel 6205) WIFI not associating when WPA2

When I hotspot from my phone, laptop connects.
When I connect with WPA2 (e.g. eduroam), it sends auth requests but doesn’t hear anything back. Any tips on where to go from here?

Update: same problem with Ubuntu and Debian. Got nowhere trying suggestions in many forums related to eduroam. Issue has to be with Intel6205 initiating WPA. I suspect it sends malformed packets but don’t have access to the APs to confirm.
