F44 KDE Plasma: How to remove the default wallpaper?

I want to remove the default wallpaper of F44 KDE. Tried to delete it but it didn’t work and I got lots of error messages after booting up.

When switching to another wallpaper everything is fine. The default wallpaper doesn’t matter. Also when using Bing Wallpaper of the day via KDE wallpaper settings, the default wallpaper doesn’t matter.

But when using a slideshow of my own wallpapers the default wallpaper is shown for 1 - 2 seconds after login before the slideshow starts.

I don’t have such a behavior in other distributions. Here the slideshow works as it shoudl without showing the default distribution wallpaper first.

Any idea what I can do to get rid of the default wallpaper or stop showing it before starting the wallpaper slideshow?

Here’s a small video to show what I mean.

Try first setting your desktop wallpaper to one you like and saving that.
Then setup you switcher does that fix it?

Tried this. Selected one of the F44 wallpapers. Logging out and in again the default F44 wallpaper is not shown. It switches directly to my selected F44 wallpaper.

But when enabling slideshow again, the F44 default wallpaper magically appeared and is shown now as before for a very short time after logging out and in again. :frowning:

I see what you mean.

I setup a slide show for 2 images and the default is shown even when it is not selected.

Are you images in there own folder? Can you select only that folder and does that work?

I think this is a issue you can report in the kde bug tracker.

I copied the folder with my images into \usr\share\wallpapers\denalb\...folder with my images... and selected that folder for the slideshow only but that doesn’t help. I also tried other folders but still no success.

I don’t believe that this is an issue with KDE, because I never had that issue in other distributions I used. I’m a distrohopper, so I try a lot of distributions and every distribution I use with KDE Plasma and my images as slideshow. Most recently I used EndeavourOS without this issue.

Your not on windows anymore its / not \ for paths

To avoid issues with Fedora’s use of /usr it best to put your own files and folders into /usr/local somewhere.

Just to check did you unselect the /usr/share folder?

I’m not sitting in front of my Linux. I’m with my Windows laptop in the office.

There is only one folder selected for the slideshow and that is my specific folder.

Will try that …

Is you still see this failing I suggest you raise a bug on the kde bug tracker.

Copied my images into /usr/local/share/wallpapers/test/ and selected this folder for the slideshow. The issue is still there. :frowning:

Actually, I don’t know where or how to do this. Have to investigate further … But don’t you think that’s a Fedora issue rather than a KDE issue?

I think its a kde issue , as their code implements the slide show.
The bugtrack is https://bugs.kde.org/index.cgi and their discuss is https://discuss.kde.org

I’ll create a discussion first, then a bug report if needed. Thanks!

I wanted to start a discussion on KDE Discussion, but then I found a bug report that already exists.

I will add a comment there. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.
