F43 Manual Partition Doesn't Allow Setting /boot/efi To EFI Type, Wipes Drive

F43 includes the new installer with the spins. The “manual partition” option is hidden beneath a hamburger menu up in the right corner. It’s mandatory to create a “/boot/efi” partition and set the partition type to “EFI partition”. There’s a dropdown list of available partition types. This does not work for me. When I click, a white rectangle flashes behind the dropdown menu and disappears.

Partition changes are made instantly. The installer’s error has caused me to wipe out an existing installation.

I’ve seen this in the KDE and Cinnamon spins. I don’t see this listed as an F43 bug or blocker.

Then it’s probably a good idea to file a Bugzilla and nominate it as a blocker before this evenings blocker bug meeting.

I chased down how to sign the Fedora agreement so I could sign into the Bugzilla. Now, it asks me to do this:

" You must have cookies enabled and a Fedora Account System (FAS) account to log in to Fedora Project Wiki.

Additionally, due to spam edits, as of 2016-08 your account must have at least one non cla* group to be able to login and edit."

Don’t know what that means, so I won’t do it.

I trust that checking to make sure the installer’s partitioner works is part of pre-release QA.

What asks you to do this?

If you post the Bugzilla bug number someone else here can file the blocker report.

Then it must have been introduced a very short while ago because when I installed F43 KDE it worked as intended.
I couldn’t find it at first because I was one screen to0 far already but @l-c-g pointed it out to me in this thread: Instaling fedora 43 kde

I didn’t have a Bugzilla account. I created one, then chased down the code of conduct and signed it. The information I posted was displayed when I tried to log in there, again. I haven’t created a bug report.

I have to say the wording of the installer and the unadvertised presence of the manual partitioner hidden behind those three dots convinced me that any manual partitioning needed to be done externally, and then using the installer to set mount points. When I did that, the installer refused to accept the /boot/efi partition I had created (correctly) and displayed a banner error message repeating multiple times that the EFI partition was missing.

When I did use the installer’s manual partitioner, the dropdown to set /boot/efi to “EFI” stuck at ext4, with that white rectangle flashing briefly behind it.

I was working with Fedora nightly ISOs, KDE from the 25th and Cinnamon from yesterday.

If you trying to set Virtual machine that you need set properly VM because installer will not give you opportunity to do something that is not set .For example VM should be set for uefi boot like

Once you set it it will do settings for install flawlessly with no problems

Although I prefer to manage partitioning using gparted, any method that creates a partition should work. Do NOT overlook changing the partition flags to boot/esp.

Just came here after installing Fedora43. I also thought I had to use Kparted, forgot to add the partition flag and was stuck on a rather unhelpful error message. Had to google this thread to learn about that tiny three dots letting me partition manually. The UI is really bad :-(. Not sure any bug has ever been reported.
