F43 KDE: Erratic keyboard and mouse issue

Dear community,

I am having 2 erratic issues: one with my keyboard and the other with my mouse scrolling. Both issues are happening even if I switch to another keyboard and mouse, I have checked the hardware on other computers and they work fine.

Issue 1:
Some characters near my numeric pad: / * - + Entr don’t respond anymore. The dot character near the numeric pad would open a KDE/QT style Find window as in the screenshot.

In KDE System Settings Application under: Accessibility > Mouse Navigation if I Enable and then disable the option “Use number pad to move pointer” those numeric pad characters work for some time and then not anymore.

Additionally, sometimes the all other keyboard keys also behave erratically when I am in Firefox too, but then if I open for instance KWrite, I can type in it and then when I get back to Firefox the keyboard will work as expected (minus the numeric pad characters issue mentioned before).
**
Issue 2:**
My mouse scroll is behaving erratically within all application. When I scroll down it does go down once and then it goes up and down erratically.

Any help and guidance would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Here is the details of my system config:

Solution to Issue 1: pkill orca & disable it.**

Can you try a different keyboard and a different mouse?

Wild guess; try disabling plasma-keyboard in the System Settings Virtual Keyboard page set to None.

I have changed keyboard as suggested, used a different usb port too, but I have the same problem.

Disabling the Virtual Keyboard by setting it to None doesn’t seem to work. That is, when I set it to None then click on Apply, if I navigate elsewhere and back to Virtual Keyboard, the option is still set to “Plasma Keyboard”.

What I have noticed is that in System Settings under Input & Output > Accessibility > Mouse Navigation. If I tick “Use number pad to move pointer” then click Apply and then untick it and then click again Apply for a few seconds my keys: / * - + Entr next to my numeric pad would work (and then eventually stop to work)

Thanks for your reply.

The solution to Issue 1 was to kill the orca process and disable it.
