F41 LXQT Intel i915: Login Screen no Text / Falkon crashes

Hello,
Testing from Live USB F41 LXQT Openbox
Thinkpad T60 with Intel 945GM ( i915 ), RAM usage (0.8-1.5GiB of 2GiB)

  • Login Screen displays no text
  • Falkon Browser crashes to login screen after several minutes of usage (reproducible)
  • if one can get the GUI of dfn-package manger to respond, it shows 300+ updates in relation to the Live USB (downloaded 2024-12-07). Those updates are downloaded, BUT could not be installed temporarily, because the test install on USB would not specify enough storage on USB. (6 GB available on USB device connected).

The system seems to be affected by the QT / SDDM bugs regarding the limited shaders on the oldish GPU.

Since you can’t update a live USB, try to use a respin. They are like the spins but with more recent updates.

Thanks for the hint. I wasn’t aware of the respins and I will try that.
But i am not very hopeful, because the most possibly responible QT Bug 126706 is still unresolved.

Sorry to report,
the 2024-12-03 Respin of F41 LXQT does show the same bugs on my T60 as reported above.

Furthermore the KDE Respin does boot into a black screen with a distorted cursor and freezes after about 30sec.
