Update today. Suspend and resume fixed it with kernel 6.12.8 for me.
The issue is not fixed with todayâs update to kernel 6.12.8 for me.
not fixed as wellâŚ
As @xeon39 suggests above, we may have to wait until 6.12.9 arrives on the scene before we will see the fix.
Reports from users on the bug report⌠âI installed kernel 6.12.9 and it does NOT fully fix the issue on Fedora 41 on my Lenovo Z16 gen 1 (AMD 6950H). The glitching seems less, but it still there.â
I think itâs time to move on to another distro.
Itâs January 12th and the bug isnât fixed, weâve been plagued by it for a month now⌠what excuse do they have this time? Is it still the holidays?
Oh, and on top of that, another bug in Fedora 41 recently that no one seem to have notice is with the latest Firefox 134 release as it makes the font on some websites italic⌠the whole font! See https://neon.kde.org/ for example. This not happen on Ubuntu with Firefox 134 as far as I tested, only on Fedora, so it must be an internal font issue or somethingâŚ
Iâm done with this distroâŚ
Then go use Ubuntu or something if youâre so done with Fedora, instead of ranting about it every so often.
Of all the linux distros, Ubuntu would be the last I would use on a daily basis.
wow.
Staggeringly disappointing.
Alex has provided some of the most integral contributions to the Open Source community and AMD hardware on Linux. A single issue cannot undermine all the great things done and with the complexity of kernel development, yes, unfortunately things to happen despite rigorous testing to main.
While itâs frustrating, itâs already been identified and it wonât be much longer until itâs sorted out.
Feedback is always helpful and gets errata resolved quicker, but berating those who are doing all they can for the open source platforms over single instance errata is not productive and disheartening to see coming from the community (unless itâs a repeat occurence with said-maintainer, then it might warrant such attention).
Please also keep in mind, while Fedora is not exactly Rawhide, itâs still an upstream distro free of charge to anyone. If you require more scrutiny to release cycles, perhaps looking into other variants or distros where kernel releases are more downstream. If your system requires mission critical support where things absolutely must work at all times, then a paid support agreement to something like Red Hat with way-downstream RHEL might be the better route.
Good find on the italic bug, have you reported it? Would like to follow if you have.
Hmmm. Are you absolutely sure that youâre not overreacting?
I very much appreciate the hard work by all of the folks responsible for giving us this free, and kick-ass, OS. Maybe youâre one of them, but based on your attitude on this, I strongly doubt it.
Good luck where ever you land!
Kernel 6.12.9 fixed the issue for me. Ryzen 5500U.
Fixed at last for me with kernel 6.12.9
same itâs fixed for me. And thanks to everyone in the open source community
All good here now. Thank you!
