Encfs: read errors mapping "<filename>": Bad message

Hello,
for 10 years I have been backing up my firefox profile and transferring it from one computer to another. I have been using encfs for the past 5 years. In the last 5 years I’ve been using fedora as a workstation and only updated to the last.My file system broke this week - ext4

After a series of repair and data recovery, I found that files located in the firefox profile, broke my file system.

when copying the profile locally i noticed the following errors:

read errors mapping “/home/user/encfs/.mozilla/firefox/ilhj0sg6.MAIN/storage/default/https+++site.tld/.metadata-v2”: Bad message

The effect is the same after reinstalling Fedora38-KDE. Of course I found out the hard way

I turned off the encfs and haven’t had any problems for 4 days now.
The problem is also noticed with file system XFS

I am very happy with the EncFS. Has anyone had similar problems? How did you solve it?

I have zero experience with EncFS, I use luks full disk encryption, but one thing that comes to my mind…. Could it be file name length?

encfs has a limit, it’s possible, but I don’t think so because when copying the profile with rsync. I used ignore-errors and problematic files not copied. the problem reappeared.

I hope they include zfs in the installer soon

I’m more inclined to think it’s the file length limit.

Before I decided to reinstall, I checked the RAM & SSD, I have 24Gb, as well as a 1Tb new disk. Both have no faults.
