Is this a one-off spurious error or something that could be reported?
There was a new Kernel update. We are now on 7.1.12-200. So a good chance that your hardware doesn’t like something. As suggested already, try to boot into the previous Kernel. If that works without issues, then I would wait You can put your money on it that a new version is just around the corner if there are major issues for some users. Every time I had an issue after updates, it was 99% related to a new kernel. I just booted to an older version and waited until a corrected one was supplied.
If you can boot an older kernel or Live USB installer you can use journalctl to get details. With Live USB you need to mount the system drive and use the —directory option with the location of the journal (<mount location>/var/log/journal/<UUID>). Thanks to y’all. A fresh reboot (after power cycle? not sure if that had anything to do with it) booted the system normally
